THE INTEGRATED WAY: BE STRONG...

“Be strong!” “Man up and lock down those emotions!” Usually the griever is asked to be strong for others. “You have to be strong for your wife!” “Be strong for your children!” During a painful grief event the griever may be provided this intellectual statement of support and he/she may not have clarity of what the statement really means or how to “Be Strong.” Complement the “Be Strong” statement with elements of self-care and human connectedness. Extend compassion, empathy, and a space for listening. The griever will feel supported in an emotional manner… a HUMAN way.
